Shampoo Champagne is an Iranian-born, Australian-based queer femme contemporary artist, poet and educator whose work explores notions of identity, history and psychology. 

 

Shampoo Champagne's multidisciplinary practice engages mediums such as collage, photography, painting, video and performance.  Her work focuses on the exploration of cultural identity, sexuality, gender, memory, and the grotesque as well as engaging in conversations with historical art movements such as the Renaissance, Surrealism, Middle Eastern art and the concept of artist-as-shaman.


Shampoo Champagne has exhibited both nationally and internationally including Manchester Contemporary Art Fair 2015, UK, Sluice Art Fair 2015, Sydney Biennale 2016, Melbourne Zine Fair 2017, has been artist-in-residence at Islington Mill, Greater Manchester, U.K and Melbourne Gaol, Australia, performed at the Big Day Out and featured on a spoken word album with punk poet Lydia Lunch. She is also the founder of the art collectives Asian Persuasion, Cut You Bitch and Talented Women Are Terrifying.
